The 10-th edition of the Paper Festival took place on July 24th-25th. This time, the event was a part of The Lower Silesia Days. The patronage of the event was taken up by the Marshal of Lower Silesia Province and by the Lower Silesia Tourist Organization. Agata Daniel was the coordinator of the Paper Festival.
The tourists arriving to The Museum of Papermaking during these days could enjoy a lot of attractions, a characteristic of the previous editions, as well as numerous novelties.
As in previous years everybody could mould paper, dye paper using historic techniques of marbling and shibori, decorate paper in batik techniques, print on a typographic machine, make sealing stamps and dry stamps using historical technology, examine paper qualities using old laboratory devices and watch demonstrations of the image preservation by the camera obscura method. There were artists and craftsman, showing and selling their products made of paper. There were also a lot of souvenir makers.
There were plenty contests and competitions, in which you could win valuable prizes (kids were throwing paper roll into the basket, adults were lifting the paper weight bar). The special attractions were two concerts: medieval music group Comes Vagantes from Germany and Artur Chamski - a Kłodzko Land native.
Edwin Petryka - the representative of Marshal of the Lower Silesia Province took part in the official part of The Paper Festival. He granted honorary diplomas to Bożena Schweizer Murkowska - the manager of the papermaking museum in 1984-2005 and to Anna Stefaniszyn – the founder of the first paper festival.
The festival has been organized for ten years, and with each year it attracts a growing interest, and is valued by local government authorities. This year’s Paper Festival was partially financed by the Government of the Lover Silesia Province, the Klodzko County Government and Duszniki Township Government. The Mondi Świecie S.A. company - the biggest paper producer in Poland was also a sponsor of the festival. The Paper Festival continues to draw growing interest and appreciation. The event was broadcast by many national and regional TV and radio stations, and press. 10,000 visitors arrived for our two-day festival, and for us that is the best proof of appreciation.
